I am a 69-year-old veteran, and each year when I visit my doctor for my annual visit, I come away with very good results. My doctor is excellent. He doesn't have any agenda, we discuss my health conditions and the best course of actions to take.
I am in excellent health, so there aren't any long discussions about medication to take or other actions to take. On my second visit, I told my doctor I wasn't expecting him to manage my health. I take that responsibility myself. I would only come to him to verify if I was doing a good job.
He knows how I feel about prescription drugs, so he will only mention something to me, but it is my decision whether or not to take it. As I said, I am in excellent health for someone my age or any age. I do have hypertension, so the medications he might recommend revolve around that.
I have always taken my health seriously. I have never been a big meat eater. I do eat chicken, or turkey or venison, and now I have included a little buffalo meat. I firmly believe you are what you eat, and I am constantly on the lookout for new, natural information.
Just over the past 8 months we have tried the Candida Cure diet, the Whole 30 diet, and now we are on Dr. Steve Gundry's The Plant Paradox diet. All three of these are good in that they encourage you to give up sugar and high starch foods. But the Plant Paradox goes so much further. Dr. Gundry explains how Lectins effect the body. Lectins are found not only in grains and wheat but also in the "gluten-free" foods most of us commonly regard as healthy, including many fruits, vegetables, nuts, beans and conventional dairy products. These products which are found in the seeds, grains, skins, rinds, and leaves of plants were designed by nature to protect plants from predators, including humans. Once ingested, they incite a kind of chemical warfare in our bodies, causing inflammatory reactions that can lead to weight gain and serious health conditions. Dr. Gundry has successfully treated tens of thousands of patients suffering from autoimmune disorders, diabetes, leaky gut syndrome, heart disease, and neurodegenerative diseases with protocol that detoxes the cells, repairs the gut, and nourishes the body.
Does your diet include peanuts, cashews, corn, quinoa or beans? How about eggplant, potatoes, peppers, goji berries and tomatoes? If so, you are placing yourself in harm's way by eating foods that are high in Lectin.
The other diets I mentioned earlier do not mention Lectins, or the effects they have on our bodies. This is what separates The Plant Paradox from all other diets.
And just in case you are wondering who Dr. Gundry is, he is the Director of the International Heart and Lung Institute in Palm Springs, California and the Founder and Director of the Center for Restorative Medicine in Palm Springs and Santa Barbara.
After a distinguished surgical career as a professor and chairman of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Loma Linda University, Dr. Gundry changed his focus to curing modern disease via dietary changes. He is the author of Dr. Gundry's Diet Evolution, as well as more than three hundred articles published in peer-reviewed journals on using diet and supplements to eliminate heart disease, diabetes, autoimmune disease and multiple other diseases.
As I stated earlier, I am always on the lookout for anything that will help me maintain my health and to do so naturally. So, when I discovered this diet, you can imagine how excited I was to get started using it, and to share this information with the world.
4 Rules for good health.
Dr. Gundry has four rules for good health.
Rule number 1: What you stop eating has far more impact on your health than what you start eating.
Rule number 2: Pay attention to the care and feeding of your gut bugs, and they will handle the care and feeding of you. After all, you are their home.
Rule number 3: Fruit might as well be candy.
Rule number 4: You are what the thing you are eating ate.
This is just the beginning. As I get more familiar with this program, I will share what I find with you, and if I find something better I will share that with you, also. But I hope you don't wait until then, go out and get your copy on Monday.
